LOUISVILLE, KY — May 05, 2008—Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) – Humana Military Healthcare Services, TRICARE contractor for the South Region, is hosting its second annual Southwest Regional Case Management Conference, on May 21-22, at the Marriott San Antonio Northwest, in San Antonio, Texas. The conference, titled “Challenges Facing the Wounded Warrior and Their Families Today,” is open for civilian providers from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas to attend. Pre-registration is required.
The event’s primary purpose is to increase physicians, nurses and case managers’ awareness of signature injuries from actions in Iraq and Afghanistan such as Traumatic Brain Injuries, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, amputations and more. The conference will emphasize how injuries are caused, related medical and behavioral challenges for wounded service members and their families, and emerging treatments for reintegrating wounded warriors back into the community.
Presenters for the conference include Charles Harvey Roadman, II, M.D., Lt. General USAF (Ret). Dr. Roadman’s military career includes serving as the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General and on the 2007 Independent Review Group on Rehabilitative Care and Administrative Processes at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center. Colonel Promotable Loree Sutton, Director of the Defense Center of Excellence will be on hand to give an overview on Traumatic Brain Injury.
Application of CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. CCM credits have been approved through the Commission for Case Management Certification for 7.5 CCM credit hours. CEU credits have been approved for 7.5 CEUs through Humana, Inc., an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing, Provider number 6-0012, Offering 60012-09.
