Before you change your plan

If you are happy with your current TRICARE health plan, you do not have to take any action to stay enrolled.

  • Open Season only applies to Active Duty Family Members and retired service members/family currently enrolled in TRICARE Prime or Select.
  • If grandfathered beneficiaries disenroll from their current Prime plan, they will lose their grandfathered status if they ever choose to re-enroll in Prime.
  • If you are retiring this year and want to keep TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select, you must reenroll within 90 days after your retirement date. Learn more
  • Don't forget to update your family's information in DEERS

What happens if I don't take action?

If you are not already in a plan and do not enroll in a plan, you will only be eligible for care at a military hospital or clinic if space is available.
