COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma (CCP) collection

July 2, 2020

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) is asking all beneficiaries who are able and eligible to consider donating blood [or blood plasma] at the local military blood collection center near you. It's safe to donate whole blood or blood plasma, and donations could help other COVID-19 patients. Plasma likely has antibodies (or proteins) present that might help fight the coronavirus infection. Currently, there is no cure for COVID-19.

Eligibility requirements for the CCP program include:

  • Must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Other travel/medical requirements may also apply.
  • Have a prior diagnosis of coronavirus AND meet specific laboratory criteria.
  • Be symptom-free for 14 days or more.
  • Note: Patients who have ever been pregnant will need additional testing to determine if Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) antibodies are present.
