2016

  • September 6, 2016 —Due to Hurricane Hermine, the governor of Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia have declared a State of Emergency. Emergency refill procedures are in place from September 3, 2016 through October 3, 2016. For more information, go to the TRICARE website. 
  • September 2, 2016 —Due to tropical storms, the governor of Georgia has declared a State of Emergency. Emergency refill procedures are in place from September 1, 2016 through October 1, 2016. For more information, go to the TRICARE website.

  • August 12, 2016 —Due to severe flooding, the governor of Louisiana has declared a State of Emergency. Emergency refill procedures are in place from August 12, 2016 through September 11, 2016. For more information, go to the TRICARE website. 
  • June 10, 2016 —Due to severe flooding, the governor of Texas has declared a State of Emergency in several counties. Emergency refill procedures are in place from June 10, 2016 through July 2, 2016. For more information, go to the TRICARE website. 
  • April 20, 2016 —The governor of Texas has declared a state of emergency in nine counties due to severe flooding. The counties are Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Waller, Grimes, Colorado, Austin, Wharton, and Bastrop. Emergency refill procedures are in place from April 18, 2016 through May 18, 2016.   • January 22, 2016 —A state of emergency has been declared in West Virginia and in 21 counties in Georgia. Emergency refill procedures are in place from January 20, 2016 through February 19, 2016. For more information, go to the TRICARE website. 
  • January 22, 2016 —A state of emergency has been declared for Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington D.C., due to winter storm Jonas. Emergency prescription refills procedures are in place from January 20, 2016 through February 19, 2016. Get an emergency refill from any network pharmacy . 

2015

  • December 30, 2015 —The governors of Georgia, Louisiana, Illinois, and Mississippi have also declared states of emergency for all four states (the entire states) due to storm Goliath. In these states, emergency prescription refill procedures are in place from December 30, 2015 through January 29, 2016. For more information, go to the TRICARE website. 
  • December 28, 2015 —The governors of Missouri, Alabama, New Mexico, and Texas have declared a state of emergency for all four states (the entire states) due to storm Goliath. Impacted areas: All counties in the states of Missouri, Alabama, New Mexico, and Texas. Emergency prescription refill procedures are in place from December 28, 2015 through January 27, 2016.   • December 24, 2015 —The governor of Tennessee has declared a state of emergency due to tornadoes. Emergency prescription refill procedures are in place from December 24, 2015 through January 11, 2016. For more information, go to the TRICARE website. 
  • October 2, 2015 —The governors of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey have issued a state of emergency due to hurricane Joaquin. Emergency prescription refill procedures are in place for these states from October 1, 2015 through October 31, 2015. For more information, go to the TRICARE website. 
  • August 21, 2015 — Emergency drug refill procedures are in place for the entire state of Florida due
    to tropical storm Erika. Effective from August 21, 2015 through September 20, 2015.
  • May 26, 2015 — The governors of Oklahoma and Texas have declared a state of emergency due to recent severe weather and flooding in several counties. Emergency prescription refill procedures are in place through June 25, 2015.

2014

  • April 30, 2014 — A state of emergency is issued in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas due to tornadoes and severe weather.  Emergency refill procedures are in place across all three states through May 29, 2014. This waiver does not apply to referrals.

2012

  • June 27, 2012 - Due to heavy rainfall caused by tropical storm Debby, the Governor of Florida has issued a statewide state of emergency for Florida. Due to this issuance, TRICARE has implemented the emergency refill too soon procedures for the state of Florida through July 27, 2012.

2011

  • Due to President Obama's state of emergency declaration in select Louisiana counties/parishes, Express Scripts has implemented the emergency refill too soon procedures for these counties/parishes until June 6, 2011.
  • Governors have issued a state of emergency in several states due to heavy storms and tornadoes. Due to these issuances, Express Scripts has implemented the emergency refill too soon procedures.
  • Due to heavy weather and tornado devastation, the government has approved a waiver for PCM referrals for TRICARE Prime beneficiaries who are located in specific Alabama zip code areas. The waiver of PCM referrals shall be retroactive to April 27, 2011 and ends at midnight on June 15, 2011 unless otherwise extended.
  • The government has authorized the departure of "eligible family members from Manama, Bahrain due to the potential for ongoing political and civil unrest." The Government has also waived the referral requirements for the command sponsored Prime family members affected by the Bahrain evacuation effective from March 15, 2011 until midnight on June 30, 2011. The waiver allows them to receive urgent, routine or specialty care without a PCM referral. This does not apply to Active Duty.
  • For TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas: The Department of Defense has waived the usual PCM-referral requirements so you may get the care you need without a PCM referral. This means you can receive urgent, routine or specialty care without a PCM referral and you will not incur any point-of-services charges. This waiver is in effect from March 11, 2001 through midnight on June 30, 2011.
  • The Governor of Oklahoma has issued a state of emergency for the entire state due to wildfires and subsequent evacuations. Due to this issuance, TRICARE has implemented emergency prescription refills for the entire state of Oklahoma from March 15 through April 13, 2011.

2010

  • Due to recent flooding, the government has approved a waiver for PCM referrals for specialty care for anyone enrolled to a PCM who is located in the Nashville, TN area -- if care occurred on May 1st through May 7th of 2010.

2008
