Diabetes community group
Do you sometimes feel alone in your struggle to manage your diabetes? Are there no support groups in your geographic area or groups meeting at a convenient day and time? Do you wish you knew people who were actually interested in talking about diabetes and becoming part of a group where you learn how others have overcome the same or similar struggles?
The Humana Military Disease Management (DM) team is currently offering a virtual Diabetes Community Group. Any diabetes DM program participant may join. The group meets bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings at 8:00 PM (Eastern Time).
Each meeting is led by our DM clinicians providing education and facilitating discussions focused on individual diabetes care needs and solutions.
Participants share their success as well as their struggles with exercise, stress/stress management, how to get back on track, dealing with depression, and even how to overcome the “tired of dealing with it and feeling like just not doing anything” attitude. The virtual group provides a forum for education and support as well as diabetes management tips on recipe ideas and exchanges, carb counting, glycemic index, and other topics of interest as suggested by the individual participants of the group.
You can join to share your struggles and your successes in a supportive environment. Act now to begin receiving encouragement and support on your journey to better health!
